Fraunhofer Institutes to host Smart-Farming Field Day in Tellow

The Fraunhofer Institutes IGD and IGP will host the first Smart-Farming Field Day on September 2, 2026, at the Thünen Innovation Estate in Tellow, Germany. The event, running from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, aims to demonstrate how artificial intelligence, digitalization, and automation can create a sustainable and economically viable future for agriculture.

Participants will witness live demonstrations of practical applications under real-world conditions, including the use of drones and AI to monitor crops and stocks. The program facilitates exchange between researchers, the agricultural technology industry, start-ups, and end-users. Dr. Till Backhaus, the Minister for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas and the Environment for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is scheduled to attend.

The Thünen Innovation Estate serves as a real-world laboratory where digital and automated technologies are developed and tested. While Fraunhofer IGD focuses on data acquisition and analysis through sensors and remote sensing, Fraunhofer IGP contributes expertise in automated and robotic systems.
