Frýdek-Místek bus driver calls police to remove barefoot passenger

A bus driver in Frýdek-Místek called municipal guards to remove a woman from a public bus because she was barefoot. The driver cited safety and hygiene concerns, suggesting the passenger could be injured by debris like glass or sharp stones on the vehicle floor. There were also unconfirmed suspicions regarding the passenger's sobriety.

However, local transport regulations do not explicitly require passengers to wear footwear. While the transport provider, Transdev Slezsko, maintains that the decision was based on passenger safety, legal experts have suggested the incident could be viewed as discrimination.

Municipal police officials noted that while guards assisted in resolving the situation without conflict, they do not have the authority to interpret or enforce contractual transport conditions, which is the responsibility of the carrier. The woman left the bus voluntarily after being informed of the driver's request.
