Frédéric Michalak Joins Cronulla Sharks as Assistant Coach
Former French international Frédéric Michalak arrived in Australia a few days after playing in the Top 14 semi‑final with Racing 92 and was appointed assistant coach of the NRL side Cronulla Sharks. Within ten days he had introduced innovative training drills, including an oval‑golf exercise, which earned praise from players such as Nicho Hines and staff members.
Sharks head coach Craig Fitzgibbon made Michalak his top recruitment target, repeatedly contacting him by text and phone, and travelling to Paris to observe his sessions at Racing 92. Fitzgibbon said Michalak’s union background offers a different perspective to help the club improve its existing methods and strengthen the bridge between rugby union and league.
