Fred Francis unveils Windsor mayoral platform
Windsor mayoral candidate Fred Francis has released a policy platform centered on five key pillars: economic growth, housing and affordability, neighborhood safety and downtown revitalization, environmental stewardship, and government accountability.
A significant portion of the platform focuses on reforming City Hall operations to increase transparency and civic engagement. Francis has pledged to eliminate ‘strong mayor powers’ granted by the Province of Ontario and move regular city council meetings from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Additional proposals include creating a blue-ribbon committee to review city board structures, implementing annual audits of closed-door meeting agendas, and ensuring all registered delegates have the opportunity to speak during council meetings. Francis framed the election as a choice between the status quo and meaningful change for the residents of Windsor.
