Fred Matiang'i challenges President Ruto over security and corruption allegations
Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang'i has issued several challenges to President William Ruto regarding accountability and governance in Kenya.
Matiang'i addressed the deaths of 36 individuals discovered in the Yala River between 2021 and 2022. He argued that as a member of the National Security Council during that period, the President cannot claim ignorance of the security failures that allowed these deaths to occur. Matiang'i urged the President to order a thorough investigation and hold those responsible accountable rather than treating the matter as a political issue.
Additionally, Matiang'i called on the President to arrest government officials who allegedly solicited bribes from billionaire Aliko Dangote during his attempts to establish a cement factory in the country. He criticized the President for verbally attacking opposition leaders who have raised questions regarding the Dangote refinery in Lamu, stating that the administration should act on allegations of corruption instead of dismissing critics.
