Canary Islands approve social service reforms as maritime sectors grow

In the Canary Islands, the regional Parliament has approved a decree to streamline social services and dependency care. The measure aims to modernize administrative procedures and update the accreditation model for centers and services, noting that approximately 60% of current centers are awaiting accreditation. Additionally, the shipping company Fred. Olsen Express has introduced discounts of up to 25% for youth aged 12 to 25 to assist with travel costs during the academic year.

In Mexico, the cruise ship ‘Navigator Of The Seas’ arrived in Mazatlán, carrying over 3,500 passengers. This visit is expected to generate an estimated 5 million pesos for local commerce and tourism sectors. This marks the first of nine scheduled cruise arrivals for the month of September.

Regarding the Spanish maritime sector, recreational boat registrations have grown by 7% through August 2026 compared to the previous year. Data from ANEN shows 4,371 registrations, with significant growth seen in motorboats and larger vessels exceeding 12 meters.
