Fred VanVleet cleared for full practice following knee injury
Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet has provided a positive update regarding his recovery from a torn right ACL and meniscus injury sustained nearly a year ago. During the team’s media day, VanVleet confirmed he has progressed to playing five-on-five drills for several weeks and is preparing for the upcoming training camp.
While VanVleet noted that his knee feels different than it did prior to the injury, he expressed confidence in his strength and the recovery process. Rockets head coach Ime Udoka stated that the guard is fully cleared and has significantly increased his activity level recently. Despite his readiness, the team is expected to manage his workload carefully at the start of the season, potentially avoiding back-to-back game schedules.
Teammate Reed Sheppard also commented on VanVleet’s progress, noting that his performance in recent drills has looked impressive. VanVleet, who recently opted to remain with Houston, expressed high ambitions for the roster, stating the team has enough talent to compete for a title.
