Fredd Young, former Seattle Seahawks linebacker, dies at 64

The Seattle Seahawks and New Mexico State have announced the death of former linebacker Fredd Young at age 64. Young passed away on Tuesday, though no cause of death was provided.

Drafted by the Seahawks in the third round of the 1984 NFL Draft, Young was a standout special teams player and linebacker. He earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his first four seasons in Seattle and was named a First-Team All-Pro in 1987. During his tenure with the Seahawks, he led the team in tackles for three consecutive seasons from 1985 to 1987.

Following a contract dispute, Young was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 1988 in exchange for two first-round picks. He played three seasons with the Colts before retiring in 1990 due to a dislocated hip. Young is survived by his wife, Michelle, their seven children, and several grandchildren.
