Freddie Mercury legacy celebrated with Czech exhibition and Montreux performance

The legacy of Freddie Mercury and the band Queen will be celebrated through upcoming musical events and exhibitions in Europe. In the Czech Republic, the Queen Anniversary Swing Gala 2026 will feature a rare exhibition of Mercury’s iconic costumes and artifacts. Organized by the Pirate Swing Band, this event is the first of its kind in the country and is held in official cooperation with Queen. The exhibition includes designs by Diana Moseley, who collaborated with Mercury from 1985 until his death, as well as works by Warwick Stone and Danilo Donati. The gala series will take place in Ústí nad Orlicí, Hradec Králové, and Pardubice, featuring Mercury’s longtime secretary Peter Freestone as a guest.

In Switzerland, the Czech tribute band Queenie is set to perform at the Freddie Days international fan gathering in Montreux. The event commemorates what would have been Mercury’s 80th birthday. The band, led by frontman Michael Kluch, has a significant history with Montreux, having previously been the first Czech band to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2019 on the Rock Boat stage on Lake Geneva.
