Freddie Mercury memorabilia to be auctioned in London

A collection of music memorabilia belonging to Queen frontman Freddie Mercury is set to be auctioned by Propstore in London this October. The collection originates from German producer Reinhold Mack and his son, Freddie Jr.

Central to the auction is a Yamaha C3 grand piano used at Munich’s Musicland Studios. Mercury utilized the instrument to write hits such as ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ and during the recording of the albums ‘The Game’, ‘Hot Space’, and ‘The Works’. The piano is estimated to fetch between £200,000 and £400,000. It was also used by other prominent artists, including The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin.

Other notable items include an AKG C414 EB microphone used for Mercury’s lead vocals and choruses, estimated at £40,000 to £80,000. The auction also features handwritten lyric drafts from Mercury’s 1985 solo debut album, ‘Mr Bad Guy’, specifically for the songs ‘My Love is Dangerous’ and ‘Let’s Turn It On’.
