Freddie Woodward discusses porn addiction during Olympic career
Former British Olympic diver Freddie Woodward has spoken out about his struggle with porn addiction during his career. Woodward, who competed for Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympics, revealed that he accessed adult content as frequently as ten times a day while training at an elite level.
Woodward noted that the habit began at age 12 and significantly impacted his academic performance, specifically during his GCSE and A-Level exams. He described the addiction as an insidious coping mechanism for the pressures of training. The addiction also led to personal complications, including the unauthorized leaking of private images and the end of a relationship.
Now 30 and living in Sheffield, Woodward is advocating for honest, evidence-led education regarding digital consumption and addiction to help others who may be suffering in silence.
