Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta is implementing mechanical adjustments to regain his dominant form. Following his trade from the New York Mets, Peralta has struggled with a 7.17 ERA over four starts, yet recent performances show signs of improvement.

Analysis indicates Peralta has transitioned from a conventional wind-up to a stretch position to simplify his mechanics. This change aims to improve his rhythm and execution, allowing him to focus on his primary tools: the fastball and changeup. While previous attempts to increase pitch extension did not yield desired results, the shift toward simplification is intended to help him regain command.

In a recent outing against Baltimore, Peralta lasted seven innings, marking his longest start since May. Rays manager Kevin Cash noted improvement in Peralta’s final innings, specifically regarding his fastball and changeup. Peralta is scheduled to face the Detroit Tigers, a team against which he holds a career 2.95 ERA in four starts.
