Freddy Peralta finds success with Tampa Bay Rays
Dominican pitcher Freddy Peralta has seen a resurgence in performance since joining the Tampa Bay Rays. After being traded from the New York Mets on August 3 in exchange for prospects Aidan Smith, Gary Gill Hill, and Émilien Pitre, Peralta has improved his recent statistics.
Peralta recorded a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts with the Mets but has since posted a 3.80 ERA over his last four appearances with Tampa Bay. He attributed his improved performance to regaining extension in his pitching mechanics, which has revitalized his fastball. Peralta dismissed the idea that the pressure of the New York market affected his previous tenure, stating he enjoyed his time there despite the challenges.
