Darja Varfolomeev wins rhythmic gymnastics all-around world title
Darja Varfolomeev has won the rhythmic gymnastics all-around world title at the championships held in Frankfurt, Germany. The 19-year-old Olympic champion secured her third consecutive all-around world title with a total score of 119.500 points across four apparatuses: hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon.
Despite a shaky start in the hoop routine, which earned her 28.300 points, Varfolomeev recovered with strong performances in the ball and clubs segments. Her clubs routine was particularly notable, earning a daily high score of 31.500. She finished the competition with a steady ribbon routine to secure the gold medal.
Bulgarian gymnast Stiliana Nikolowa took the silver medal with 117.600 points, while Italy’s Sofia Raffaeli earned the bronze with 117.550 points. The victory in front of a home crowd of 4,250 spectators marks Varfolomeev’s 12th career world championship gold medal. She now looks toward upcoming individual apparatus finals for further medal opportunities.
