Kai Pflaume sets Guinness World Record by running marathon during TV show

German television presenter Kai Pflaume has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered during a show moderation. During the season premiere of the quiz show “Wer weiß denn sowas?”, Pflaume ran a full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers within the studio.

The feat was completed in 5 hours, 53 minutes, and 21 seconds, involving approximately 1,407 laps around a 30-meter track in the Hamburg studio. To facilitate the attempt, the production included a mobile toilet on set, and the event was monitored by a Guinness World Records official.

The broadcast drew significant attention, with up to 3.4 million viewers watching the live television segments, while the additional coverage in the ARD media library reached approximately 600,000 viewers. Pflaume, 59, expressed his satisfaction with the achievement on Instagram, sharing photos of his certificate and laurel wreath.
