Fredrik Gulsvik sentenced to nine years for drug smuggling

Former Norwegian footballer Fredrik Gulsvik has been sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison for serious organized drug crime and aggravated money laundering. The Oslo District Court found Gulsvik guilty of smuggling a total of 34 kilograms of cocaine to Norway across two separate incidents.

One smuggling operation involved transporting 16 kilograms of cocaine from Sweden to Oslo in 2025, with the drugs hidden in a vehicle's center console. In the summer of 2024, Gulsvik was caught by Dutch police during another transport involving cocaine from the Netherlands. He was also convicted of laundering 300,000 NOK.

Gulsvik, 37, testified that massive gambling debts totaling several million kroner drove him to engage in drug trafficking. While the court granted a reduction in sentence due to his confession and long processing time, it did not grant leniency based on his gambling issues. His defense attorney stated they would review the verdict and reasoning before deciding whether to appeal.
