Fredro Starr announces new film inspired by New York nightclub

Fredro Starr, a founding member of the hip-hop group Onyx, is transitioning from music to filmmaking with his new project, ‘The Tunnel’. The film is inspired by the legendary New York City nightclub and is set for a September release.

Starr independently funded the project and utilized first-time actors to capture the raw energy of New York's hip-hop golden era. The inspiration for the film stemmed from a personal experience where a traumatic attempted robbery in the Chelsea projects was contrasted by the exhilaration of arriving at the club.

Originally conceived as a six-episode television series, the concept was ultimately developed into a feature film to preserve a specific era of New York culture.
