Free Community Film Screenings Held in Adamantina and Arapiraca, Brazil

The Pontos MIS cultural program continued its free cinema series in Adamantina, Brazil, with a Thursday (23 July) showing of the feature film “A Natureza das Coisas Invisíveis” at the Anfiteatro Fernando Paloni. The film, suitable for viewers aged 12 and up, follows a ten‑year‑old girl spending holidays in a hospital and explores friendship, loss and life‑death questions. The event is part of a broader initiative that includes workshops, talks and family‑friendly screenings, ending on 31 July with the film “Turma do Folclore – Os Protetores da Natureza.”

In Arapiraca, the Cineclube Afrodite organized a special free session on Friday (24 July) at the Núcleo do Audiovisual de Arapiraca, presenting the documentary Filus FPS70. Directed by Ticiane Simões, the film documents the quilombola community of Filus in Alagoas and was followed by a discussion on gender, race and audiovisual representation. The screening is part of the nationwide “Julho das Pretas” observance, which highlights Black women’s rights and cultural contributions, and is funded through the national Aldir Blanc cultural policy and the Alagoas state culture secretariat.
