Sonora and Hermosillo roll out free health services for thousands

State health agencies in Mexico have launched a series of free medical initiatives targeting vulnerable families. In San Luis Potosí, health and DIF teams held a health fair in Ciudad Satélite, Villa de Pozos, providing more than 400 consultations, vaccinations, HIV testing, blood‑pressure and diabetes checks, oral health checks and cancer‑screening guidance.

In Sonora, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño inaugurated the “Techos Solares para el Bienestar” program, aiming to install photovoltaic systems on up to 10,000 low‑income homes in Hermosillo and surrounding rural areas, promising electricity‑bill reductions of up to 89 % in summer. The same administration is running the “Sonora Atiende” outreach, bringing free government paperwork, medical care, legal advice and other services to multiple municipalities throughout August.

The municipal government of Hermosillo, led by Mayor Antonio Astiazarán Gutiérrez, has operated a mobile clinic that delivered more than 45,000 health actions—including general medical visits, dental care, vision exams, physiotherapy, Pap‑smear sampling and COVID‑19 PCR testing—to urban neighborhoods and remote communities such as Miguel Alemán and Bahía de Kino.
