São Paulo launches state‑wide multivaccination drive targeting children and sarampo boost

The State of São Paulo will begin a multivaccination campaign on Monday, 3 August, covering all 645 municipalities. The effort focuses on children and adolescents under 15 years old. In the municipalities of São Paulo, Guarulhos and São Bernardo do Campo the campaign also offers vaccination to anyone aged 6 months to 59 years to reinforce protection against sarampo (measles).

A 15th sarampo case in the state was confirmed on 30 July 2026 – a child in Guarulhos who had not received prior measles vaccination. Preliminary 2026 data show 77.5 % coverage for the first dose and 65.5 % for the second dose of the trivalent sarampo‑mumps‑rubella vaccine, short of the Ministry of Health’s 95 % target. The campaign provides a broad list of vaccines, including BCG, hepatitis B, pentavalent, inactivated polio, rotavirus, pneumococcal 10‑valent, meningococcal C and ACWY, influenza, Covid‑19, yellow fever, trivalent (sarampo), varicella, DTP, hepatitis A and HPV. CVE director Tatiana Lang stressed that updating vaccination cards is essential to protect children and adolescents from vaccine‑preventable diseases.
