Chagas Fernandes Performs Free Musical Showcase at João Pessoa’s Sabadinho Bom
Violinist Chagas Fernandes headlined the Sabadinho Bom program in João Pessoa on Saturday, July 18, offering a free concert at Praça Rio Branco starting at 12:30 p.m. The performance featured an eclectic mix of Brazilian rhythms—forró, xote, baião, samba, frevo and choro—and included both instrumental pieces and vocal numbers.
The event was organized by the municipal cultural foundation Funjope, with the city’s cultural director Marcus Alves highlighting the Sabadinho Bom’s role as a historic gathering point for generations in the historic centre. Fernandes recalled that the project began without a stage, emphasizing its cultural continuity and community value. Accompanying musicians included accordionist Lucas Carvalho, drummer Lindemberg Fernandes and bassist Vinícius Gomes.
