Latin America health outreach initiatives bring free services to communities

Community health outreach programs across Latin America are delivering free medical, preventive and veterinary services to residents in remote or underserved areas.

In Dosquebrada, Colombia, the "Tu Salud Nos Mueve" campaign set up a free health day on 31 July, offering vaccinations, health screenings, mental‑health counseling and pet care at a neighborhood site.

Mexico’s Chihuahua state health secretariat organized a public health fair on 1 August in the Plaza de Armas, providing free vaccinations, testing for HIV, hepatitis C, syphilis and diabetes, blood‑pressure checks and nutrition advice.

Chile’s Servicio de Salud Ñuble has operated the mobile Ruta Médica Calle since 5 June, bringing health checks to people experiencing homelessness in Chillán and San Carlos; in two months the team delivered 473 services to 253 individuals.

A separate three‑day health operative in Chile’s O’Higgins region (31 July‑2 August) will see more than 3 000 patients receive specialist consultations, diagnostic procedures and medium‑ to high‑complexity surgeries at hospitals in Santa Cruz, San Fernando, Rengo, San Vicente and Chimbarongo.

The municipality of San Clemente, together with the volunteer group Bomberos Sin Fronteras, conducted a rural imaging campaign in Corralones, providing mammary and abdominal examinations to local residents.

In Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, the regional prosecutor’s office participated in a public service fair offering legal documents, health services, vaccination and information on extortion and virtual kidnapping.
