Kattegat Festival returns to Zwolle with new Spoorzone venue

The free Kattegat Festival is set to take place in Zwolle from 4 to 6 September after relocating to the city's Spoorzone, next to the Rode Hal. The move follows the demolition of the former container homes that housed artists and musicians, which made way for residential development in 2025.

Organiser Karen Wijnen said the festival’s core remains unchanged, emphasizing its role as a community-driven cultural platform that offers live music, art, workshops and a market. The 2026 programme features acts such as Hiigo, Jack Shore, Politie Warnsveld, ZWARTEWATER, Badminton, Ponto Ponto and Feiertag. While the new location is provisional, the organisers hope to secure a permanent cultural space in Zwolle.

The three‑day event is free to the public and aims to sustain low‑threshold, alternative culture for the city’s large creative community, supported by institutions like ArtEZ and Cibap.
