Free Office Suite Software Kingsoft and Bento Launched

Kingsoft Office Suite Free is a Windows‑7 compatible office package that includes Writer, Presentation and Spreadsheet applications. It can open, edit and save Microsoft Office formats, features an integrated PDF converter and automatic spell‑checking, and is marketed as a lightweight alternative that does not slow down the computer.

Bento version 1.0.11, released on 27 July 2026, is an open‑source office suite delivered as a single 571 KB HTML file. The browser serves as the runtime environment, eliminating the need for a server. Documents are stored locally via the File System Access API in JSON format. Technical analysis highlights Bento’s minimal resource use compared with solutions such as Collabora and ONLYOFFICE, which require gigabytes of RAM. The current build focuses on a presentation editor (bento/slides) and remains in early development with a roadmap for further features.
