Free Orchestral Concerts Bring Music to Brazilian Cities

The Choir of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (Osesp) performed free concerts in Mariana on Saturday, August 8, and in Ouro Preto on Sunday, August 9, as part of a tour of Minas Gerais that also includes Araxá, Pará de Minas and Belo Horizonte. Conducted by Thomas Blunt with resident conductor Kaique Stumpf, the program featured works from the Renaissance to contemporary composers and offered free tickets to the public.

In Sorriso, Mato Grosso, the Sesi MT Orchestra presented a free concert titled “The Future Starts Here” on Saturday, August 8, at the Park Shopping Sorriso parking lot. Guest soloists Akane Iizuka, Marih Azevedo and singer Gabriel Marcolan performed under guest conductor Fabricio Carvalho. The event coincided with a 50‑year photographic exhibition celebrating the Serviço Social da Indústria’s presence in the state. Both initiatives aim to democratize access to culture and bring orchestral music to wider audiences across Brazil.
