Konopiště Castle hosts free‑bus fruit‑dumpling festival
On the weekend of 1–2 August 2026, Konopiště Castle in the Czech Republic will hold a two‑day “Fruit Dumpling Festival”. The event runs from 10:00 to 16:30 each day on the castle’s courtyard and celebrates the plum and apricot dumplings once favoured by Archduke Franz Ferdinand d’Este.
Benešov city transport will boost line 6 for the festival, replacing the usual two‑hour service with hourly buses that run free of charge. Buses depart from the Terminus at stop 4, stop at Konopiště Street and drop passengers at the information centre beneath the castle. Ticket holders for both tour routes receive a complimentary serving of fruit dumplings (the offer does not apply to organised groups).
The programme also includes Slovak halušky, “Ferdinand” beer, fruit‑flavoured mojitos, live reenactments of historic dining scenes, a chocolate shop, Café d’Este and Bistro Žofie, which will debut a new ice‑cream called “Sisi”.
