Freehill Mining appoints engineer for Chilean copper-gold project

Freehill Mining Limited has appointed civil mining engineer Marco Meneses to lead the development of its Blanco y Negro copper-gold project in Chile. Meneses brings over 30 years of experience in South American mine construction and project development to the role, focusing on technical leadership and permitting processes.

The appointment coincides with expected legislative changes in Chile, where the government intends to increase the processing threshold for small-scale mining operations from 5,000 to 10,000 tonnes per month. Freehill Mining expects this change to act as a catalyst for the Blanco y Negro project, which holds a mineral resource estimate of approximately 1.5 million tonnes at 1.4% copper and 0.5 g/t gold. The project aims to utilize a low-capital toll-treatment pathway near ENAMI’s SX-EW processing plant.
