Freelancehunt Report Shows Payment Risks for Freelancers in Poland & Brazil
The "Portret Freelancera 2025" report, compiled by the Freelancehunt platform, finds that 67.9 % of freelancers obtain work through recommendations, but payment security remains weak. Only 36.4 % receive an advance payment before starting a project, while one‑third work without any payment protection. Written contracts are used by 39.3 % of respondents and 19 % experience payment delays of 30 days or more.
Experts warn that trust alone does not guarantee reliable payment. Valentyn Ziuzin, president of Freelancehunt, says, “Trust is a good start, but a bad payment system.” Founder Oleg Topchiy adds that clear agreements should cover the scope of work, number of revision rounds, acceptance criteria, payment schedule and the client’s decision‑maker to avoid disputes.
Both Polish and Brazilian freelancers cite the same challenges, highlighting a broader need for standardized terms and advance payments across the freelance market.
