FREELANDER announces expansion into Middle East and Africa
FREELANDER, a premium all-terrain brand developed by JLR and Chery, has announced plans for large-scale expansion into the Middle East and Africa. The brand intends to enter 11 Middle Eastern markets, including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Oman, and Egypt, with full-scale operations expected in the first half of 2027.
In the United Arab Emirates, Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors have been named official dealer partners. Additionally, new partnership agreements were signed for Bahrain and Oman during the FREELANDER Nightfall event held at the 2026 Chery International User Summit. The FREELANDER 8 model is projected to launch in the UAE during the first quarter of 2027.
Morocco will serve as the brand's gateway into Africa, alongside Tunisia, with an expected market entry in mid-2027. CEO Lucia Mao stated that the expansion focuses on building customer trust through quality products and reliable local service networks.
