Freetown court grants bail to student in alleged fraud case

A student, David Kamara, has been granted bail by Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown. Kamara faces one count of fraudulent conversion under the Larceny Act of 1916.

It is alleged that on August 25, 2026, Kamara converted a yellow tricycle, valued at approximately NLe 68,690, to his own use. The vehicle was reportedly entrusted to him by David Lincoln, who stated the tricycle belongs to Aminata Bab Lincoln. During the committal proceedings, the defense argued that Kamara is a resident within the jurisdiction, is not a flight risk, and has reliable sureties available to stand for him.
