Freezy Macbones wins WBO Africa Light Heavyweight title in Lagos

Ghanaian boxer Seth ‘Freezy Macbones’ Gyimah claimed the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight title after defeating Nigeria’s Godday Appah in Lagos. The bout, titled ‘Chaos in the Ring’, took place at The Balmoral on October 1, 2026, as part of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations.

Macbones secured the victory via unanimous or majority decision, overcoming a home-crowd advantage to end Appah’s reign. The win represents a significant career milestone for the 37-year-old Macbones, who previously lost the WBA Africa Light Heavyweight title in December 2025. The match was preceded by a heated confrontation between the two fighters during an official press conference.
