Fregene Carabinieri Patrol Vehicle Flips, Two Officers Hospitalized

On July 30, 2024, at the intersection of Via della Pineta and Via Portovenere in the coastal town of Fregene, Lazio, a Carabinieri patrol car collided with a Fiat 500 and overturned, rolling onto the roadway after striking the sidewalk.

Two Carabinieri officers were taken to hospital in code‑red condition; one was air‑lifted to Policlinico Gemelli and the other to Sant’Eugenio Hospital in Rome’s Eur district. Both remain serious but are not considered to be in danger of death. The road was closed, traffic was disrupted, and local authorities opened an investigation. A resident commented, “There have been too many accidents here, it’s time for authorities to take serious measures.”
