Frei Gilson reaches Navegantes after fog delay, event draws 100,000 fans

A thick fog over Santa Catarina forced the aircraft carrying friar Frei Gilson to abort its landing, delaying his arrival in Navegantes by roughly four hours. Businessman Luciano Hang, together with entrepreneur Claudete Martins and Mayor Ricardo Ventura Muniz, organized a force‑task: a chartered jet fetched Gilson in Jundiaí, a Havan helicopter transferred him to a nearby city where the weather cleared, and a car completed the final leg to the Arena de Eventos do Pontal.

Despite the setbacks, the religious gathering began after midnight and attracted about 100,000 attendees, surpassing the town’s total population. Organizers praised the persistence of the faithful and the collaborative effort that ensured the event proceeded as planned.
