Freiburg train station attack targets 14-year-old boy

A 14-year-old boy was brutally attacked at the Freiburg train station in Germany on September 9. The victim, Leon, had just arrived from Heilbronn and was waiting for his father when a 41-year-old Ethiopian migrant punched him in the face, causing him to strike his head against a stone step.

The attacker reportedly shouted, “I’ll kill you!” and attempted to gouge out the boy’s eye while wielding a carpet knife. The assault was interrupted by a local cafe owner, Pino R., who intervened by jumping on the attacker to pull him down.

Leon was hospitalized with injuries to his face, eyes, and a jaw contusion. His father, Roland H., reported that the boy is suffering from significant psychological trauma, including night terrors. The father also noted that an injury on the boy's cheek resembled a swastika, though it is unclear if this was an intentional carving by the attacker.
