Inger Støjberg calls for accountability after audit finds 13,000 Danish police cases mishandled

A Rigsrevisionen audit of the Danish police revealed that around 13,000 criminal cases were closed without proper investigation, including nearly 6,000 cases involving violent offences. The audit described the police practice as “very unsatisfactory.”

Denmark Democrats leader Inger Støjberg demanded that responsibility be placed higher up the system, saying the issue should become “one of the first major tests for the incoming justice minister.” She wrote to Ekstra Bladet, “De kriminelle må jo sidde i deres klubhuse og grine det her langt væk,” and added that the matter “must be investigated thoroughly from the top down.”

The report has sparked political pressure as Denmark remains without a new government after more than 50 days of coalition talks, leaving the appointment of a new justice minister pending.
