Freilichtmuseum Mueß to receive 3.56 million euros for expansion

The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is providing 3.56 million euros for the second phase of construction at the Freilichtmuseum Mueß in Schwerin. Economic Minister Wolfgang Blank presented the funding notification to Mayor Sebastian Ehlers.

The investment is part of a larger 4.45 million euro budget for this construction phase, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. A key component of the project is the construction of a new, barrier-free seminar building on the site of a former cafe that is no longer capable of being renovated. The new structure is planned to follow the footprint of a historical stable and will feature half-timbered construction integrated with modern elements, such as solar roof tiles.

In addition to the seminar building, the project includes the redesign of open spaces within the museum grounds. This expansion aims to enhance the site's capacity for educational and cultural offerings.
