Freire Shipyard seeks concession renewal while SAAM posts 10% revenue rise

The Port Authority of Vigo has opened a one‑month period for objections after the Freire Shipyard subsidiary Asvagre applied to extend its port concession, which currently runs until May 2027, for an additional 15 years to 2042. The company occupies 15,578 m² on Avenida de Beiramar and says it will not expand its footprint or introduce new activities, limiting any environmental impact. The Real Club Náutico de Vigo has filed a similar request for its historic club premises, also seeking a 15‑year extension to 2042.

Chile’s port‑services group SAAM reported first‑half 2026 results, with revenues up 10% to US$333 million and EBITDA of US$103 million. Net profit fell 6% to US$38 million, affected by higher fuel and maintenance costs and exchange‑rate effects. The company completed the purchase of the remaining 30% of Intertug, achieving full ownership, added new tugs to its fleets in Chile and Mexico, secured additional contracts in its Aerosan air‑logistics division, and paid a US$60.4 million dividend to shareholders.
