FRELIMO leader Chakil Aboobakar signals new era of party engagement

Chakil Aboobakar, the Secretary-General of FRELIMO, has begun a three-day visit to Mozambique's Gaza province to signal a shift in the ruling party's approach to governance and community engagement.

During a rally in the Bilene district, Aboobakar stated that the party is entering a “new era” focused on working closely with the people. He emphasized that party and government leaders must move away from arrogance and instead adopt a methodology characterized by humility, dedication, and accountability to fulfill campaign promises.

This initiative follows directives from Party President and President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, issued during the 11th National Cadre Conference. Aboobakar also announced the commencement of preparatory sessions for the 13th FRELIMO Congress, which is scheduled to take place in Nampula from July 20 to 25, 2027.
