FRELIMO reports 360,000 new members in Nampula

FRELIMO, Mozambique's ruling party, has reported the recruitment of over 360,000 new members in the Nampula province. The announcement was made by Filipe Paúnde, head of the Central Brigade and a member of the Political Commission, following a six-day working visit to the region.

Paúnde attributed the surge in membership to the party's recent mobilization activities. During his visit, he focused on disseminating decisions from the IV Extraordinary Session of the FRELIMO Central Committee and formalizing the Provincial Cabinet for the Preparation of the XIII Congress. This congress is scheduled to take place in Nampula between July 20 and July 25, 2027.

As part of the preparatory process, provincial and district-level cabinets have been established to manage activities leading up to the congress. Paúnde noted that public participation in meetings was “massive and vibrant,” highlighting significant contributions from local community leaders.
