Fremantle and RoseBerry to reimagine Neighbours as vertical microdramas

Fremantle and RoseBerry Media have partnered to reimagine the long-running Australian soap opera ‘Neighbours’ as a series of vertical microdramas. The project aims to reach mobile-first audiences through RoseBerry’s ‘epis’ streaming app.

Using RedSnapper, a proprietary AI-assisted production workflow, the companies will scan the show’s extensive archive of over 9,300 episodes to identify and reformat engaging storylines. The initial launch will focus on approximately 150 minutes of content centered on the character Donna Freedman, played by Margot Robbie between 2008 and 2011.

Unlike the traditional ensemble format of the original series, these vertical episodes will follow singular character arcs. The initiative serves as a test case for how established television libraries can be repurposed for social media and mobile consumption using artificial intelligence.
