Fremantle Dockers revive Wharfie Time tradition in AFLW season finale

The Fremantle Dockers reintroduced the Wharfie Time tradition, featuring a ceremonial gong, during their AFLW season finale against the Sydney Swans. Despite the activation, Fremantle suffered a narrow one-point defeat to end their season.

Sydney star Chloe Molloy set a new AFLW record for goals in a single year, finishing with 27 goals after kicking four in the match. The game remained highly competitive, with Fremantle's Noa McNaughton and Sydney's Hayley Miller both scoring to keep the contest within a single point in the final minutes.

Dockers CEO Garlick confirmed that the club will continue to use the Wharfie Time in-game activation next season, including the opening round against the Western Bulldogs. Garlick defended the tradition as a reflection of the club's working-class, port-town heritage and stated that the club does not believe the timing of the activation influences match results.
