Fremantle Traffic Bridge to open ahead of schedule in Western Australia

The new Fremantle Traffic Bridge in Western Australia is set to open ahead of schedule on November 1, 2026. The Federal and Western Australian Governments confirmed that the project, originally slated for completion in the first half of 2027, was fast-tracked through innovative construction methods.

To mark the milestone, a community celebration will be held on the opening day, allowing pedestrians to walk across the bridge before it officially opens to vehicle traffic later that evening. The opening is intended to restore critical connectivity to the port city of Fremantle and relieve pressure on the surrounding road network ahead of the summer and Christmas trading periods.

Following the official opening, finishing works will continue, including the finalization of bridge lighting and landscaping on the southern side near Beach Street. The original Fremantle Traffic Bridge had been closed since February 1, 2026.
