French activists file torture and war crimes complaint against Israel

Twenty-six French activists, members of the Global Sumud Flotilla, have filed a formal complaint with France's National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (Pnat) against Israel. The complaint alleges war crimes and torture following the interception of humanitarian aid flotillas destined for the Gaza Strip.

The activists claim they were intercepted at sea during three separate missions in October 2025, April 2026, and May 2026. In their legal filing, they describe being subjected to arbitrary arrest, physical violence including the use of tasers, and inhumane treatment. Specific allegations include being forced to remain kneeling on gravel, being stripped, and being pressured to sign false confessions. Five of the plaintiffs also reported experiencing sexual touching.

The legal action may be integrated into two existing preliminary investigations opened by the Pnat regarding the same flotillas. Israeli military and prison authorities have rejected all accusations made by the participants.
