French agriculture faces economic and climate pressures

The French agricultural and wine sectors are facing significant economic pressure due to rising production costs, changing consumer habits, and increased competition. In response, the Mimran-Brunet Cabinet in Aix-en-Provence is offering strategic consulting to help farms identify untapped growth opportunities, such as e-commerce, direct sales, and wine tourism.

Individual farmers are also being forced to adapt to climate-related challenges. In the region between La Roche-sur-Yon and Nesmy, livestock farmer Dorian Rabillé reported that drought and heatwaves significantly reduced cereal yields, with harvests dropping by half. Additionally, a fire destroyed ten hectares of land. To ensure survival, Rabillé is shifting his business model to prioritize forage production over organic crop cultivation.
