French Ambassador Visits Lebanese Health Center; UNRWA Launches Nursing Program

French Ambassador to Lebanon Herfié Magro toured the Amal International Center for Primary Health Care in the Souar district, accompanied by French diplomatic staff, the French Development Agency and representatives of the International Primary Care Relief organization. The visit highlighted the long‑standing French‑Lebanese partnership supporting primary health services, noting that the centre, founded in 1984, continued to provide medical, psychological and gender‑based violence prevention care despite recent conflict‑related damage and a temporary closure.

Separately, the Jordanian Nursing Council, in partnership with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), began the fourth six‑month cohort of a primary health‑care and reproductive‑health training programme for 81 nurses and mid‑wives serving UNRWA‑operated sites across Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and Gaza. The initiative, supported by the Japanese government, aims to strengthen professional competencies and improve the quality of health services delivered to refugees.

Both efforts underline ongoing regional commitments to bolster health‑care capacity in conflict‑affected communities.
