French Army receives first Jaguar R3 armored reconnaissance vehicles

The French Army has received its first Jaguar R3 armored reconnaissance vehicles, which are set to replace the AMX-10RC wheeled tanks. KNDS announced that 25 vehicles, consisting of new Jaguar R3 units or upgraded Jaguar R2 models, have been delivered so far.

Deliveries and modernizations are expected to continue through the end of 2026. Following successful testing in Bourges and Angers, the French Ministry of Defense is scheduled to officially authorize the Jaguar R3 for combat use by July 20, 2026.

The 25-ton 6x6 vehicle features a digitized T40 turret equipped with a 40mm high-speed cannon and Akeron MP anti-tank missiles, capable of engaging targets at distances up to 4,000 meters. The vehicle also incorporates advanced sensors and an improved human-machine interface to enhance crew decision-making. The French Army aims to possess a total of 300 Jaguar vehicles by 2030.
