French art institutions launch major exhibitions in Arles and Aix-en-Provence

New art exhibitions are opening in France, highlighting significant cultural milestones. In Arles, the Fonds Bustamante has opened in the renovated former Sainte-Croix church. Designed by architect Charles Zana, the venue features an inaugural exhibition titled ‘En miroirs’, running from July 9 to October 30, 2026. The exhibition features works by various artists, including Jan Vercruysse, Reinhard Mucha, Thomas Schütte, and Shervin/e Sheikh Rezaei, as well as a monumental sculpture by Cristina Iglesias.

In Aix-en-Provence, the Fondation Vasarely is hosting a major exhibition titled ‘PROJET POUR UNE RÉVOLUTION – VASARELY ET L’ARCHITECTURE’ in partnership with the Centre Pompidou. The event commemorates the 120th anniversary of Victor Vasarely’s birth and the 50th anniversary of his Centre architectonique. The exhibition explores Vasarely’s ambition to merge art and architecture to create social art integrated into urban environments, showcasing pieces such as Nicolas Schöffer’s 1957 Spatiodynamic Theatre project.
