French athletes compete at European Athletics Championships

French athletes faced mixed results during the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. In the men's discus throw final, Lolassonn Djouhan finished in 11th place. After an initial throw of 58.35m and a failed second attempt, Djouhan improved to 62.28m on his third try. The competition was won by Slovenia's Kristjan Ceh with a throw of 72.51m.

In long-distance running, Jimmy Gressier is preparing for the 10,000m final following a fourth-place finish in the 5,000m event. The 5,000m race was won by Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Gressier, who previously became the first Frenchman to win a world title in the 10,000m, expressed a desire for redemption in the upcoming longer distance race.
