French author Camille Bordas on Barack Obama’s 2026 summer reading list

Barack Obama released his annual summer reading list for 2026, recommending eleven books. Among them is the short‑story collection One Sun Only by French‑born author Camille Bordas.

Bordas, born in Lyon and raised partly in Mexico, has lived in the United States for 15 years, teaching creative writing at the University of Florida. She writes primarily in English, translating her own work, and the collection was published on 27 January 2026 by Random House. The book is not yet available in French. Obama’s inclusion shines a spotlight on the cross‑Atlantic author, following earlier selections of French writers such as David Diop.
