French authorities dismantle drug ring in Libourne

French authorities have dismantled a drug trafficking network in Libourne that operated out of a residential apartment. Investigations revealed the organized sale and storage of cannabis and cocaine, with daily deliveries made to Libourne and surrounding areas. An operation involving 90 gendarmes resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, including two 17-year-olds. Three adults have been placed in pre-trial detention.

In response to a 25.9% increase in drug seizures since January 2026, the gendarmerie is intensifying patrols in seaside resorts to combat summer trafficking. In Deauville, law enforcement has implemented undercover operations on beaches and increased checks on railway lines and airports to monitor the influx of tourists.
